On this page, you will find a list of the member organisations that Your Students' Union Advice Service are affiliated with. These affiliations allow the Advice Service access to ongoing training and professional development, updates on relevant changes in legislation and best practice and the opportunity to network with other advice professionals to improve the service offered to students.

Advice UK

Your Advice Service are affiliated with Advice UK, a charity that supports advice organisations across the UK to be efficient, competent and effective and campaign for a policy environment that supports advice agencies and the people needing advice.

Advice UK was established in 1979, Advice UK has 700 members who annually, support 1.7 million people on a range of issues including debt, housing, benefits and immigration problems and provide support for specific communities including students, disabled people and people experiencing domestic violence. In 2024, Advice UK welcomed 41 new members, delivered £2,294,475 of funding to advice services and across all its member organisations, provided free, independent advice to 2.8 million people.

Being a member of the Advice UK network means the Students’ Union Advice Service:

Being part of Advice UK, means Your Students’ Union Advice Service ensures it is maintain and developing best practice to provide the highest level quality of advice and support to all of our students.

NASMA

NASMA stands for the National Association of Student Money Advisers. It is a professional membership association for those across the UK working within the student money advice sector.

NASMA helps its members to provide the best support to students by promoting the development and sharing of sector best practice and free exchange of ideas, developing members’ skills through professional development events and conferences, and representing the views of its members by working closely with national decision makers and their influencers. NASMA welcomes members from a range of roles in further and higher education.

Being a member of NASMA means that Your Students’ Union Advice has access to discounted training, forums for discussing student money issues and opportunities to network with other student money advisers to ensure that our Advice Caseworkers are equipped with the most current knowledge and practices to support our students in dealing with finance related issues.
