Gender Expression Fund

About Campaign

The UK is currently facing a culture war that is leaving trans individuals without legal protection, access to medical treatment, and the ability to socially transition safely. The ongoing cost-of-living crisis has a disproportionate effect on transgender and genderqueer students that leaves them needing financial support.
The Gender Expression Fund seeks to address these barriers. This scheme will run across the whole academic year, with meetings twice a semester to review applications. This will provide more students with access to gender affirming items, helping Trans, non-binary and genderqueer students with their mental health, self-confidence and sense of self; ultimately bettering their mental health and ability to engage with their course.

Students will be able to apply via an online application form, and any items purchased on behalf of students (if their application is successful) will be packaged discreetly. Applications will be approved by a Panel consisting of the LGBTQIA+ Community Engagement Lead, the Community Officer, a committee member of the LGBTQIA+ Society, and an activities full-time staff member.

Students across all campuses can participate in applications for the fund.

Campaign Aim

A fund that aims to aid with the cost of transition for transgender, non-binary and gender-queer students; lessening financial barriers that may prevent self-expression and social transition.
