Campaign Aim
Embracing neurodiversity is the recognition that each and every brain is wonderfully unique, with its own way of processing and perceiving the world. This concept acknowledges that not all brains function in the same 'neurotypical' way, and it's frequently embraced by individuals with conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, and others that bring about differences in thinking and behaviour.
Neurodivergent students encounter a multitude of challenges, from sensory sensitivities to difficulties in focusing and social communication. These challenges can lead to feelings of fatigue, anxiety, and stress, impacting their academic performance and overall well-being.
It's clear that many students are struggling with overstimulation and burnout due to a lack of understanding and tailored support within our university. It is vital for universities to possess comprehensive knowledge on effectively supporting neurodivergent students in order to prevent this.
With this in mind, Layna has taken the initiative to launch a campaign aimed at creating a neuro-inclusive campus. This visionary effort seeks to establish sensory-friendly spaces, improve the accessibility of campus areas, and provide training and resource packs to educate and raise awareness among our students and staff. The ultimate goal of this inspiring campaign is to significantly enhance the university experience for all students.
