Acoustic Music Society

AMS is a place for everyone who loves music! We meet up for our own open mic nights and jam sessions, as well as attending other events around Coventry, including karaoke and many more! 

Whether you're just getting in to music or are a seasoned veteran, you'll find a massive range of people just like you. Many of us are more than willing to lend a hand if you need one, or collaborate on a project you've been working on, or even just join a song you want to perform.

Current Events

Make sure to check out our weekly meetings, 7-10pm in Ivy House for the classic AMS open mic night. This is a great place to meet our members and perform any music you like, or even just to watch other people perform.

We also host many other one-off events, collaborating with several other societies including Christian Union and several of the Music and Performance societies. We've also held events with Phoenix Radio, the SU and many other external partners around coventry. We're always up for new collaborations, so feel free to reach out if you want to collaborate with us on any kind of event. If you need music for your event, we are the people you need.

Key past events

We're really proud to support a range of CUSU communities, including LGBT+, BAME and Student Media, and the wider Coventry & West Midlands. We're also part of The Gaming Collective, which is a group of societies puts on Gaming & Karaoke nights for charity at Square One in the Hub - to date we've helped raise over £1000 for a variety of charities!

AMS Online

Our online community is as big as the one we have in person, where we share musical performances, collaborate with each other and stay connected. We share highlights of all our events on our Instagram, and now have a Discord server too, the main place for our members to communicate.

We have a very rich and diverse society, and we'd love for you to be a part of it. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

President - Zuzia Weolowska

Hi everyone! This is your president speaking!

I’m Zuzanna and after being a member of this wonderful society for a year and a treasurer for another one, I’m happy to write this bio as the AMS’s president.

Next week I’m starting the final year of my Business Management course. Some of my biggest passions and interests are music, cinema and personal developement.
I play guitars (acoustic, electric, bass), sing and look forward to meeting you all soon.

Inclusions Officer - Holly Stokes

Hi, I’m Holly and I’m your Inclusions Officer.

I’ve been with AMS since I started uni in January 2024 and it’s been so much fun! I play the ukulele and my favourite music is indie, rock and pop.

I can’t wait to meet new people and play some new songs!

Treasurer & Events Manager - James Wells

Hi, I’m James and I’m your Treasurer this year and I’m starting my masters year at Coventry. I’ve been part of AMS for 4 years already, and can’t wait to start my 5th!

I love learning new instruments and playing with new people, I started on the piano but picked up several instruments through AMS and now play a wide variety of music. If you’ve been around for many years, you’ll remember me as President or Inclusions Officer, as well as the host of AMS Tuesdays.

Communications Officer - Dan Battley

Hello, I'm Dan. I'm going into my second year at Coventry University, and my second year at AMS. This year, I am AMS's Communications Officer.

I'm a huge fan of Oasis, Led Zeppelin, The Doors to list a few. I play acoustic and electric guitar. There's nothing more I love than performing and that's why I found AMS to be the best society for me. The friendly and warm community instantly welcomed me and I felt right at home immediately.

I look forward to meeting you guys this year and hope to see you down every week at the Open Mic!

The following people aren't part of our committee but have left a lasting impression on our society. We'd like to use this space to recognise the work they've done for us.

Jamie Parsons

Jamie is no longer a member, but was a member of AMS for 3 years. We want to make a special metion for him as the creator of the AMS Discord server, a job that he took on at our request due to the committee's inability to understand technology (an ongoing issue!). Jamie is an amazing member of the society not just for the things he does, but the type of person he is. AMS wouldn't be what it is without him.
