As assessment time approaches, here’s a quick reminder about five support services to help with deadlines or exam pressure...
Extenuating Circumstance Requests (ECRs)
- Extension - up to five extra days to submit your coursework
- Deferral - move your assessment or exam to the next available date
You must apply before your deadline, with evidence. The forms are here:
You can’t choose the next submission date, so deferring might affect progression, graduation, or (international students only) your visa.
Health and Wellbeing
Did you know that the University has a Student Wellbeing Service? If you’re struggling and looking for emotional support, get in contact by booking an appointment, sending them an email at welfare.ss@coventry.ac.uk, or calling them on 024 7765 8029.
Grace Period
The University Group gives you a 24-hour grace period for coursework, in case of last-minute tech issues. Use it at your own risk! It doesn’t apply to extensions, exams, tests, or presentations.
Help using AI
Unclear about when, how, or if to use AI? Your assignment brief should outline how it expects you to use it. If you’re worried about this why not book a free AI writing workshop here?
The Library, CAW and Sigma
- The Centre for Academic Writing (CAW) offers free online resources, academic writing workshops, 1-2-1’s, tutorials, and more. Call them on 024 7688 7902 or email writing.caw@coventry.ac.uk.
- sigma is Coventry University Group’s award-winning Maths and Stats Support Service, offering all students drop-in sessions, appointments, and online resources to help with maths, statistics, and statistics software. Email them at sigma_staff@live.coventry.ac.uk or drop in on the ground floor of Frederick Lanchester Library!
- The Library offers expert support on research, referencing, and academic integrity. Librarians can help you find, reference, and evaluate information. Find out more at your campus library:
