Would you like to represent CU Scarborough - potentially on a national stage - and earn a wage while you do it? This autumn Your SU is running a set of by-elections and there are some really exciting roles up for grabs for CU Scarborough students. Read on to find out more!

There are three roles available for CU Scarborough students at this by-election. Read on to find out more about the roles and how to apply!

CU Scarborough Campus Officer

This role is for all students studying at the CU Scarborough campus. This role is responsible for gathering the views of CU Scarborough students and representing them to the University. They act as the primary spokesperson for all students at their Campus, at every level with the University, Students’ Union and wider community. They will contribute to the development of the CUS student community through representation, campaigns, and events. 

Salary: £12.05 per hour including holidy pay
Hours: 10 hours per week
Start date: January 2024 (with a period of shadowing the current outgoing Campus Officer)
End date: June 2024

Emmanuella Akatah is your current Campus Officer. She will be leaving this role in Feburary 2024 following the end of her studies at CUS. 

NUS Conference Delegate (2 places available)

The National Union of Students Conference is the largest student conference in the UK, with students from all over the country coming together to debate and vote on issues and campaigns. As a delegate you will represent students from CU Scarborough on the national stage, taking their voices to Blackpool as part of the wider Coventry University Group delegation. You'll meet students from other Coventry University Group campuses and from universities across the country, and help inform decisions and campaigns delivered by the NUS over the next year. You'll receive training in advance of the conference and your travel, food, and accommodation costs will all be covered by Your Students' Union.

Salary: This is a volunteer position, but all costs will be covered.
Dates: Wednesday 17th - Thursday 18th April 2024

Health and Care School Officer

This role is for all students studying within the School of Health and Care (formally the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health) - both in Coventry and Scarborough. This role is responsible for gathering the views of HCS students and representing them to the University. They act as the primary spokesperson for all students in their School, at every level with the University, Students’ Union and wider community. As this role would involve representing students across multiple campuses, you would need to think carefully about how you would engage, support, and collaborate with students not local to you.

Salary: £12.05 per hour including holidy pay
Hours: 10 hours per week
Start date: January 2024
End date: June 2024
