As someone who lives with invisible disabilities, this project really appealed to me as I want to open the doors of communication and understanding of the realities of people living with disabilities.
My design includes the classic wheelchair icon combined with a person who is standing to represent awareness and inclusivity for invisible disabilities. The lines coming from the head of the figure represents mental and neurological conditions. I also incorporated a sunflower as it is a globally recognised symbol for a col-lg variety of non-visible disabilities.
I want to broaden the accessible facilities to be inclusive of those with disabilities.

Panel's comments
The panel loved how much Ellis was able to include in their design while still keeping it simple and recognisable, something that's crucial in icon and signage design.
The panel felt this design did the best job of communicating what was required in the least design; conveying the message without overwhelming or confusing the reader.
Ellis clearly understood the brief and was able to draw on their own experiences to produce a design the panel was delighted to award first place.
